Hold on to your hats, because I’m really, really pissed! No language bars here in this purely political poem! When elected representatives refuse or fail to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance or National Anthem – or just as disgraceful – fail to stand during the joint session of Congress when the President is honoring a slain American Hero in front of his widow – there’s something really sad, and wrong about these people – and they sure as hell don’t deserve to be elected to anything, lest the United States Congress.

To the Representatives who refused to stand
copyright 2017 by jon gutmacher

We’re Americans
it’s just what we do
we stand for the Pledge
and Anthem, too

So, what the fuck are you doing
sitting down?
are you a jerk?
or just some clown?

When men are dying
to keep you free
get off your ass
Don’t look at me!

You’re sitting pretty
sitting fast
you’ve far too rich
but you just pass

The responsibility that goes with free
To honor those
protecting you and me

And you have the nerve
to hold office, too?
You have no respect
for the Red, White, and Blue

The tears are streaming
down my face
As I watch in shock
while you disgrace

The office you were elected to serve
and don’t even care
about your word

I’m tired . . .
worn . . .
of all your shit
Stand up, by God
and do not sit!

For we are a Nation
of more than words
we’ve shed our blood
We must be heard!

And so to you
disgraceful soul
who will not stand
Get lost!
Go screw!

Who shirks the essence
of our flag
who makes your voters
fucking mad

It’s time you were ushered out the House
and left to rot
you Goddamn louse!

For when you’re elected
in this land
it’s about fucking time
for you
to stand!
