With eyes so closed
With eyes so closed
This is not a fantasy poetry, but is more in the nature of a love poem, perhaps far too reflective to be included on this site. However, for whatever it is worth — here it is.

He closed his eyes
against the wall of silence
that surrounded him
against the wall of silence
that surrounded him
Surely . . .
There were better times
times of laughter and joy
times of touching
times of caring
times when he
could hold her
in his arms
and simply sigh
in amazed satisfaction
and relief
that they were
both together
For love can be an elusive partner
and sometimes
so elusive . . .
as never
to be found
But . . . he did take some comfort in remembering
the past . . .
when love was his to cherish
even though
those memories
were so long ago . . .
And so
he went on . . . dreaming
dreaming of all those things that were
and never were . . .
as he sat alone . . .
silently . . .
surrounded by the past
