A Bullet Has No Conscience – The Tragic Death of Aiden Leos

Aiden Laos in car seat
Six year old Aiden Laos in car seat

On Friday morning, May 22, 2021, six year old Aiden Leos was shot and killed while strapped into his car booster seat in the back seat of the vehicle his mother was driving on the Freeway near Los Angeles. It was a completely one sided road rage incident carried out by a coward without conscience, who if there was justice, would be in hell where he or she belongs.  I wrote this narrative poem in the memory of this tragic event.

There’s something wrong
with anger and a gun
when a six year old dies
that’s just way too young

When a person so reckless
filled with anger and hate
no concern for others
societies principles forsaked

In road rage
in anger
no concern and no care
shoots into a car
the bullet goes where?

Into a child
strapped in their car seat
an innocent life
that bullet did meet

I don’t understand
how such a deed could be done
but one thing I know
they had no business
owning a gun
