The Christmas Tree Miracle- fantasy poem

The Christmas Tree Miracle – a fantasy holiday poem
Often called one of the best Christmas poems on the web, I can think of so many others much better than mine.  Still, it is a poem that warms the heart and spirit, and tells of a Christmas miracle.  True, a small one,  but miracles don’t have to be big — they just have to be wonderful.  This Christmas poem about a family in desperate financial need, and an angel who sees their plight — tells such a story.  Interestingly, there’s a 2013 movie somewhat similar, and I’ve attached a partial video of at the end of the poem.  My Christmas Tree poem is an inspirational fantasy poem written especially for the Christmas Holiday. Like some of my more recent writing it expresses the importance of family, faith, belief, and a love of God.  Even redemption.  I’ve gotten some emails from folks that say this is the best Christmas poem they’ve read. I think that’s a bit too kind. However, if you shed a small tear at the end — you won’t be the first. Have a Wonderful Christmas Holiday — now and forever!

They didn’t have much money
he’d been out of work three weeks
the kids wore clothes the shelter gave
but every night they ate

Around a table that was so old
but sturdy, none-the-less
t’was food for all, but meager fare
but to them . . . it was the best

For while life could be a struggle
and the world . . . not always kind
they had each other . . . every night
their love – the thing that binds

And just before mom . . . served their meal
they all held hands and prayed
to thank the Lord for what they had
through Him each one was saved

And when the Christmas season . . .
came joyfully to the year
they pooled their meager money
for a tree to bring them cheer

And then the lights came out the box
one string – t’was all they could afford
but each light shined
and brought them joy
and closer to
their Lord

One night the lights did flicker
all over on that tree
and each of them was worried
until their mom did see

An angel looking thru the glass
of a window covered with snow
and a tear rolled down the angels face
and suddenly they knew

That God would never leave them
and as bad as things could be
He’d always make sure things were right
if only . . . just a tree

And suddenly the lights on the tree
shown bright beyond compare
and the angel smiled at each of them
and warmth was everywhere

And on the next day following . . .
a letter came by mail
the job dad sought – was finally his
he’d be back working . . . without fail

It wasn’t much for many folks
but for them it was so great
a steady paycheck to pay the bills
even if dad worked late

And a bell rang on the tree just then
like magic – if that be
and the angel smiled
from far away
at the beauty of
the tree
